Why are fire barriers important?
Buildings and homes can feature voids between ceilings and rooves or between floors. In situations where stud walls and boards cannot be used, fire barriers can be installed to compartmentalise these voids or concealed spaces.
Voids in buildings can be dangerous as they can allow flames and smoke to travel quickly and easily from one part of a building to another or from building to building. The use of fire barriers in these situations mean the voids become fire compartments which can contain the spread of fire for a set amount of time.
At FireSealsDirect, we stock Firefly’s Phoenix fire barrier, a passive fire protection product that fills voids in buildings to restore fire protection, it is lightweight, flexible and easy to install.
