A fire collar can be fitted around the base of a pipe and attached to a masonry, plasterboard or concrete partition. In the event of a fire, walls that have been penetrated by pipes suffer decreased integrity, meaning the fire can quickly affect the pipe.
A fire collar reinstates the wall’s resistance and is fire tested for up to four hours. Similarly, an intumescent pipe wrap provides up to four hours fire protection but can be used within the wall itself.
