This high-performance seal is designed to stop smoke from passing under a fire door as well as providing an effective barrier against fire, the outside climate, noise, light and insects.
A drop down seal is activated once the door is closed. This means the door threshold remains clear without the need for a high fixed threshold. It’s the ideal seal to meet document part E and part M of UK building regulations where disability, access and energy conservation is concerned.
The Applique features a satin anodised aluminium finish with galvanised steel flat springs and reinforced actuators and is endurance-tested to 200,000 cycles with a 14mm maximum drop.
The seals are acoustically tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 140-3:1995 and achieved a rating of up to 29dB Rw, fire tested to BS476: Part 20/22: 1987 to 60 minutes and smoke tested to BS EN 1634-3:2004.
This easy-to-fit seal is a versatile solution that comes with pre-fitted screws for a quick and cost-effective installation and can be shortened or cut down if required by 150mm.

Q
Im not sure this question was answered correctly? I to am confused what the 5mm means. I can see the 5mm width indicator for the end cap in stage 3, but what does the 5mm measurement mean on the left hand part of step 3? Does it mean fit the metal strip so its 5mm above from the base of the door? When comparing to fitting with the lock side, this measurement then changes to 6mm so does not correlate to the width of the end cap. Fitting plunger on hinge side – installation instructions step 3 shows bottom of the seal framework to be fitted to the door so that its 5mm above floor level. I cannot then work out what step 5 is indicating showing the bottom of the rubber seal to be 14mm above floor level – which is not possible – please can you explain
A
Step 3 does include (on page1) two 5mm measurements, (page 2 - 6mm)
The first measurement is in relation to the 5/6 mm gap is the standard we recommend (and the usual gap for acoustic testing), whereas the 14mm measurement in Step 5 confirms that the Applique can drop up to 14 mm.
The second 5mm measurement is in reference to the end caps size (width).
Q
Trying to “dry run” fitting this seal but when I try to simulate closing the door (by pushing the snib in) – the seal does not extend evenly across its width. Is this something that cannot be simulated or do I have a faulty seal ?
A
When holding the drop down seals they will only drop on the one side, when fitted in place the side dropping will hit the floor and the mechanism will cause the other side to drop and level out closing the seal.

A
The 5mm in step 3 on the fitting instructions for the Applique 37 is referring to the width of the End Caps which are 5mm in thickness, and the 14mm reference in Step 4 is referring to the maximum drop coverage that this seal can accomodate.
Q
Does the door have to come off to allow fitting ?
A
The Applique 37 range of dropseals are surface mounted and can be retro fitted without the door having to be removed.
Q
Will this product drop down to an uneven door threshold? or does it come down equally on the same sides. I could not see anything regarding this in the documents
A
The drop seals will accomodate a slope in the floor with a 2mm-4mm tolerance from one side to the other.
Q
Are these handed or universal that can be fitted with the nib left or right?
A
These can be fitted either way and fitting instructions can be located on the product page in the Download Tab.
Q
Can this be installed to cover a larger gap under the door by moving the full frame downwards? What is the distance between screw centre and bottom of device when retracted (before the 14mm drops)
A
The drop seals must be attached as per the fitting instructions (located in the Download Tab) and the bottom of the drop seal will be in line with the bottom of the door to meet the test evidence data.
