How do pipe wraps work?

Intumescent pipe wraps work by expanding when exposed to heat. The intumescent material expands which creates a fire-resistant seal by crushing the pipes. Without this seal, fire and smoke can easily travel through the gaps created by the pipes meaning that if a fire breaks out, it can spread easier and quicker around a building.

Where should pipe wraps be installed?

Pipe wraps must be fitted to pipes within a solid masonry wall so that the intumescent material only expands inwards. Intumescent pipe wraps help reinstate fire integrity and provide up to four hours of fire protection. They are simple to install and require no maintenance, making them a quick and easy fire protection solution.
