Acoustic Intumescent Putty Pads are designed to maintain the fire resistance of plasterboard partitions where they have been penetrated by plastic or metal electric socket boxes.

They make a significant contribution to the reduction of air leakage in properties, helping reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.

Description

Acoustic Intumescent Putty Pads have been developed to maintain the acoustic integrity and fire resistance of plasterboard partitions, where plastic electric socket boxes penetrate them. They also make a significant contribution to the reduction of air leakage in properties helping reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.

Fire Rating

Tested in accordance with BS 476:Part 20:1987 and EN 1366-3, Acoustic Intumescent Putty Pads provide up to 2 hours fire protection.

Description

Acoustic Intumescent Putty Pads are manufactured from a red, non-setting, silicone based intumescent polymer.

Installation is simple:

Remove the face plate of the electrical socket box
Mould the pre-formed putty pads into the back of the box and around the cables
Replace and secure the face plate

Under fire conditions, the intumescent putty pad expands to fill the void left by the burnt out electrical socket box, preventing the spread of fire through the plasterboard wall. The intumescent putty pad may also be used for upgrading the acoustic performance of partitions where electrical sockets boxes have penetrated the wall reducing room-to-room noise transfer.

Acoustic

Measurement of airborne sound insulation was made in accordance with BS EN ISO 140-3:1995. Single number quantities were calculated in accordance with BS EN ISO 717-1:1997. The Putty Pads provide a Weighted Sound Reduction Index (Rw) of up to 67dB.
