The Firefly Apollo Horizontal 30:30 is a flexible, non-rigid fire barrier that delivers 30 minutes of both integrity and insulation (EI 30), designed to maintain fire-rated compartmentation lines through horizontal concealed spaces such as roof voids, lofts, and areas below mezzanine floors and balcony structures.

Fire compartmentation in horizontal voids demands a barrier that has been tested and certified in the orientation it will actually be installed — not extrapolated from vertical test data. The Apollo Horizontal 30:30 has been specifically fire-tested to BS 476 Parts 20/22:1987 in a horizontal configuration and holds third-party IFCC/Kiwa certification (Certificate No. IFCC 1531), with an accompanying Fields of Application schedule covering ceiling systems, widths, and installation requirements. This gives you clear, auditable evidence of compliance for building control sign-off. It has also passed BS 476 Parts 6 and 7 for fire propagation and surface spread of flame. For vertical applications, the separate Apollo Lite 30:30 is available.

Weighing just 2.2kg/m² minimum at only 10mm thick, the Apollo Horizontal is engineered for the kind of awkward, overhead installations where rigid barriers simply are not practical. It arrives concertinaed and individually wrapped, making it straightforward to transport into roof spaces and manipulate around services and obstructions on site. The multi-layered construction — aluminium foil and woven/nonwoven glass fibre with a proprietary coating — allows it to be shaped to suit irregular void geometries without compromising performance. A chemical treatment prevents fibre migration, reducing irritation during handling.
