How to install fire-rated access panels?

Installing a fire-rated access panel doesn’t have to be complicated. With FlipFix, the process is quick, simple and requires minimal tools to install fire-rated access panels in ceilings and walls.

Step-by-step installation guide:

1. Use the pop-out template from the packaging to mark out the area on the wall or ceiling.
2. Cut the area with a drywall saw to form your opening.
3. Position the fixing clamps so they are facing the drywall and place the panel into the aperture, ensuring it sits flush with the surface.
4. Using a screwdriver or drill, tighten the screws until the clamps are firmly secured to the plasterboard.

Follow these additional steps when installing a plasterboard beaded frame panel:

5. Apply Lorient Intumescent Sealant on both faces of the frame, nominally 5mm wide sealing to the supporting construction.
6. Plaster over the panel face and frame for a seamless finish, leaving only the lock visible. The door can be easily removed if needed.
7. Once plastered over, you are able to decorate to match the wall/ceiling.
